Kombi Diner

The luxury of a fully catered Italian meal cooked right in front of you and enjoyed with friends at a picturesque outdoor location is a very special experience. When combined with a beautifully restored 1977 Volkswagen Kombi Transporter that quickly converts to a dining table for 10, complete with chairs and brightly coloured umbrellas then you have the recipe for a uniquely Italian take on nostalgic al fresco dining.

The Kombi diner was conceived by Renato Di Stefano, resident foodie, teacher and tour leader with Phil Hoffmann Travel who like many others who work in the hospitality and Tourism industry was greatly affected by the Covid 19 restrictions. Renato seized the opportunity to purchase a 1977 VW Kombi ute from a good friend then restored it to its original glory and converted it to a mobile diner. The project took many long hours and just over 15 months to complete.

The concept is very clever and simple. “I pull up with the Kombi at a selected idyllic location, the tray cover is rolled up, the drop sides are secured, the table is set, the stools are put in place, the umbrellas go up, the stove is lit and there you have it, Kombi Diner” Renato says.

For groups of up to 10 people. A choice of menu with all food, chairs, tables, and umbrellas supplied, just BYO your drinks.
